Euro-Atlantic Youth Security Forum: Beginning

Karazin University has opened the Euro-Atlantic Youth Security Forum. The event was organized on the initiative of the University and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine and under the aegis of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine. The students of the School of IER and TB took part in the Forum.

The Vice-President Yurii Kholin welcomed the guests of the Forum and emphasized its relevance at the crisis stage of the Ukrainian history. “We are here to share our experience, how to become a part of the European civilization,to tell how Lithuania joined the EU and the NATO,” pointed out Mr. Vaitiekunas.

Mr. Mahda’s report was about a hybrid war: "The low-intensy conflicts have replaced the conventional military conflicts among regular armed forces, where the main figures are criminal organizations. This is the war not for the territory but for the impact on the citizens’ awareness of another country”.

Mr. Helseth emphasized the purpose of NATO, open for cooperation and membership of democratic countries, which is to prevent aggression and create a collective protection system.

The forum program includes discussions on the changing global security environment, new challenges in the contemporary world, the role of NATO, Ukraine’s security policy and NATO-Ukraine relations.
