University Debate Club Presentation
On October 1, 2014, the Student Scientific Society of Karazin University organized a presentation of the University Debate Club.
Among the participants there were founders of the University's Debate Movement Dmytro Shcherbyna andFaina Vaulina, and leading debaters from other Kharkiv higher educational institutions, namely: Yaroslav the Wise National Law University, National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, who shared their experience and impressions from their participation in debates.
In her welcoming address, the Head of Karazin University Student Scientific Society Svitlana Tarasova stressed the significance of the impact debate has on a person's development. "The Debate Club is not only meeting with interesting people and searching for new ideas. It is primarily about new knowledge to be used in everyday life. Participation in debate will help better understand those around you, bring your thoughts and viewpoint home to them."
The presentation participants also got acquainted with the rules of British Parliamentary Debating. Still another item on the agenda was a game engaging both beginners and expert players. The brave to have tried themselves in debating for the first time were awarded diplomas of pioneering Karazin University debaters of the new season.
