II Kyiv International Travel Forum

On October 10, 2013, Kyiv hosted the opening of the II Kyiv International Travel Forum held under the aegis of Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The Opening Ceremony of the Forum was attended by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul, UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara and representatives of 29 countries.

Among the items on the agenda of the Forum Opening there was a presentation of the Concept of tourism branding in Ukraine (for details: http://www.tourism.gov.ua/ua/news/26542/), a number of international conferences and round tables, in particular, a discussion on the role of cultural legacy in tourism development, prospects of health tourism expansion as well as tourism territorial marketing; topical issues of development and implementation of a tourism brand in Ukraine were touched upon.

Within the framework of the event, the Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) countries convened to address promotion of the Black Sea region as a tourist-attractive one due to its unique and favorable tourist-recreational resources, its relevant infrastructure.

The Forum presented the Concept of National Target Program of Tourism Development in Ukraine until 2022 and tackled the main provisions of the National target program to be approved by the end of the current year.

Under the National Target Program of Tourism Development in Ukraine the number of foreign tourists in Ukraine is supposed to increase from 24.6 to 50 million persons per year by 2022. It also means more work places in the field — 1,000,000 instead of the existing 400,000. The rise in the public revenue is expected to increase from UAH 1.5 to 5 billion.

Associate Professor A. Parfinenko, acting head of the Department of Travel Business of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business participated in the work of the Forum, too.
