Karazin University Students Visit International Youth Camp “Commonwealth. Memory of Generations”

On July 1–15, 2013 students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National Universityvisited the International Youth Camp “Commonwealth. Memory of Generations” held in Zhilina (Orlovska oblast, Russia), its participants coming from Belarus, Estonia, India, Latvia, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine and France.

During the two weeks, the students participated in discussions with leading representatives of scientific and cultural community from Orlovska oblast, Moscow and St. Petersburg. They also wrote a number of projects within the theme of the Youth Camp, which contributed to better understanding of its main problems and to paying more attention to the problems of civil identity development, and participated in various sports, cultural and educational events.

In their spare time the students took part in different psychological trainings aimed at developing skills of communication and team work. Lectures, workshops, trips around the city and the district enabled the participants to become acquainted with the cultural and historical legacy of Orel and Orlovska oblast.

July 14 was the day of the ceremonial closing of the camp where each participant received souvenirs. The day ended with lowering of the flag of the camp and a farewell concert.

For reference. The International Youth Camp “Commonwealth. Memory of Generations” aims at getting to know Russian cultural and historical traditions, establishing a system of effective contacts and developing relationship between the youth from Russia, CIS and Europe as well as creating an environment youth communication based on development of traditions of intercultural understanding.
