On October 4-9, 2015, 24 students and five faculty members of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business participated in the third program of diplomatic traineeship "Hungary: Visegrad Group Country’s Experience in the EU" held within the scope of the European School project. The Hungarian Embassy in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Embassy in Hungary had assisted in organizing this educational course.
Karazin University students took part in the working events and meetings in the Hungarian Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, the Office of International Relations at Budapest Mayor’s Office, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Corvinus University of Budapest and the Ukrainian Embassy in Hungary. The students learnt from the experienced representatives of the diplomatic corps about the role of the Visegrad Group and its cooperation with Ukraine, Hungary’s experience in the field of international relations and EU membership, and enriched their knowledge of foreign policy and integrational processes in the EU. They also got acquainted with the practical aspects of work of the diplomatic offices and missions abroad, received valuable advice as to making a successful career.
During their stay in Hungary, the Karazinites organized a flash-mob in the Heroes’ Square in Budapest singing the Ukrainian national anthem to show their respect for cooperation and friendship with the Hungarians. The trainees had a meeting with the representatives of the Club of Young Diplomats of Hungary that shed some light on the peculiarities of the work of international specialists in international affairs in the EU.
Besides, the entertainment program offered visits to the Royal Palace, the Hungarian Parliament, the Citadel, and a cruise along the Danube with a stop at the biggest water park in the suburbs of Budapest.
The closing of the program took place in the Hungarian Embassy in Kyiv where the Ukrainian delegation was presented the views of the priorities in the development of relations between Hungary and Ukraine and received certificates on successful completion of the traineeship in the European School signed by the Heads of the Embassies of both countries.
