Ceremonial Initiation into Karazin University Studentry

Karazin University has held its traditional ceremony of first-year students’ initiation into studentry. The ceremony took place with the participation of Karazin University President Vil Bakirov, Vice-Presidents, deans, faculty members and students, as well as the guests of honor: Deputy Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Yuliia Svitlychna, Head of the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, President of the Association of Alumni, Faculty and Friends of Karazin University, Volodymyr Semynozhenko.

“We are very grateful to you for having chosen Karazin University as the place of your development as professionals and citizens. In the far 1805, the first students were only 52 higher education seekers. Now you are more than 2,000. And the faculty members were only 26, unlike today, when their number is 1,500. It is thanks to Karazin University, which is the source of knowledge, science, enlightenment and progress driving force, that Kharkiv has become a great intellectual center,” pointed out Mr. Bakirov in his welcoming speech.

“As of today, you have become part of the intellect corporation. A lot of career achievements, awards and titles are ahead of you, one of which will stay with you throughout your whole life — being a student of one of the oldest and most titled universities of Ukraine, Karazin University,” stressed Mr. Semynozhenko.

As is the tradition, this year's Knowledge Day celebration included the laying of flowers at the Monument to the University founder, famous public figure and enlightener Vasyl Karazin and the lighting of the Fire of Knowledge that symbolizes thirst for the knowledge the deep treasury of the world science heritage has to offer.

Within the event the first-year students were able to get to know more about the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, they met the Dean, professor Vadym Sidorov, the associate professors and the representatives of the student self-government.
