​Panel Discussion "Contemporary Issues of Tourism Development in Japan"

Karazin University held a panel discussion “Contemporary Issues of Tourism Development in Japan” organized on the initiative of the Center for International Cooperation and the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business.

The participants were welcomed by the Head of the Department of Travel Business Anatolii Parfinenko: “Japan’s experience in travel business is undoubtedly worth close attention. It is very interesting for all of us to get acquainted with Japan’s culture and traditions as the Ukrainians and the Japanese are united by friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance.”

Olena Shapovalova, Director of the Center for International Cooperation, while mentioning Ukraine’s primary interest in developing geographic, green and environmental tourism, emphasized the importance of learning Japan’s experience in the field.

The discussion participants debated the contemporary tourism-related issues, particularly the experience in visiting the Land of the Rising Sun, state regulation, development of Japanese tourism, the fundamentals of cultural diplomacy of Japan. The event also provided an opportunity to visit the exhibition “Prefectures of Japan” and attend a master-class in calligraphy.
