Public Lecture on Ukraine after Euro-2012

Karazin University, on the initiative of the Department of Travel Business of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, hosted a public lecture on Ukraine after Euro-2012.

Professor of the Swiss Business and Hotel Management School Magdy Attalla told the audience about the influence and consequences of the European Championship in football held in Ukraine. “Ukraine is a great state with a lot of wonderful places that could be interesting for foreign tourists and therefore I believe in successful development of tourism in Ukraine,” said Magdy Attalla.

During the meeting Mr. Attalla dwelled on possibilities in the field of tourism that are now open for Ukraine thanks to the Championship. He also told the audience about possible steps to make in order to help our country to attract more tourists.

According to the lecturer the main criteria for success in travel business are optimization of the process of formation of the country’s positive image, cooperation with various tour operators, and association with neighboring states. “Cooperation with neighboring countries can become a considerable step for tourism development in Ukraine. Tourists wish to see as much as possible and therefore tours like “Ukraine-Poland” will be in great demand, stressed Magdy Attalla.

Magdy Attalla is a regional counselor and lecturer in marketing in Benedict Education Group (Zurich, Switzerland); regional director in marketing of the Swiss Business and Hotel Switzerland School (BHMS). Mr. Attalla was engaged in a number of successful consulting projects mainly related to program development, analysis of competitors, preparation for opening and actual opening of big international schools, colleges, universities in hotel administration in England, Egypt, Russia and Switzerland.

The European Football Championship-2012, the 14th European Championship, the final part of which was held in Ukraine and Poland on June 8 through July 1, 2012. European Football Championship-2012 became the first tournament of the kind to be held in Eastern Europe. Sixteen teams from European countries participated in the tournament. The EURO-2012 was the first home tournament for the national team of Ukraine in its history. The Championship slogan – “Creating history together” – was presented along with the logo in Kyiv on December 14, 2009; the Championship talismans were presented in Warsaw on November 16, 2010. They were the twins Slavek and Slavko.
