Conference in Tourism Studies

V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University held the VII International Research-to-Practice Conference of Young Scientists "Contemporary Issues of Travel Business" organized on the initiative of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business and uniting representatives in the field of Tourism Studies from over 15 universities of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The Presidium included Dmytro Kuznietsov, Head the Department of Culture and Tourism of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Vadym Sidorov, Dean of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, Anatolii Parfinenko, Head of the Department of Travel Business, Maryna Shevtsova, Head of the School's Student Research Society.

"Our School and the Department of Travel Business in particular are among the youngest in the University, yet they are actively developing and have a high reputation among scientists, employers in our region and in Ukraine on the whole", said Anatolii Parfinenko.

Dmytro Kuznetsov told the audience about the main achievements in tourism in Kharkiv region, including the developed concept of the program of culture and tourism development until 2018 and engagement of University students as volunteers in organizing and holding cultural events in Kharkiv and Kharkiv oblast: "There are about 1,500 travel agencies in Kharkiv oblast, most of them being outbound tourism oriented. However, it is inbound tourism development that is one of the main tasks of Kharkiv Regional State Administration in tourism. We have quite a large number of travel routes to be developed."

Within the framework of the event, its participants discussed a number of contemporary issues, including the specifics of the national travel market development, the principles of travel business organization, problems of its regional development, international and country-specific aspects, prospects of health resorts development in Ukraine, improvement of hotel and catering services in tourism industry, how the Euro -2012 affected the development of tourism industry of Ukraine. They also addressed ways of improving the tourism infrastructure, social and psychological aspects of tourism development, cultural heritage use in tourism.
