Open House Day is a traditional even at Karazin University, in the framework of which prospective students have a chance to learn all the necessary information about admission and academics from the University Administration and the leadership of its Schools.
The event traditionally started off with presentations of the Schools and movies about the University, followed by a meeting with Academician Vill Bakirov (President of the University), Associate Professor Andrii Hakh (Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee), and his deputy, Associate Professor Olha Anoshchenko.
Moreover, meetings were held at the Schools, within the framework of which those present could learn about peculiarities of the academic process and get answers to all of their questions.
A large number of prospective students were interested in the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, as it provides quality education aimed at practical activity and is based on a strong foundation of theoretical disciplines, which gives its alumni a head start in the labor market.
During the years of its existence, more than five thousand students graduating from the School have become successful in various fields of economics. This fact serves as concrete evidence of correctly chosen correlation between practical and theoretical disciplines and the quality of training.
The School is represented by the following specialities: International Economic Relations, Travel Business, Hotel and Catering Business, International Law and International Information.
Full Professor Vadym Sidorov (Dean of the School) began the faculty's speeches by characterizing the basic stages of foundation and development of the School.Associate Professor Larysa Hryhorova-Berenda (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs) continued, speaking about peculiarities of training at the School and the students’ curricula.
Associate Professor Anatolii Parfinenko (Head of the Department of Travel Business) introduced those present with the history of the Department and substantiated the relevance of the Travel Business major as well as the prospects of employment after graduation.
The speeches were continued by Associate Professor Liudmyla Novikova (Head of the Department of International Law). She spoke in detail of the features of international law as a special legal system needed for regulation of relations between countries and international organizations while stressing relevance of the International Law major at the current stage of development of Ukraine.
Full Professor Yevhen Vorobiov (Head of the Department of Economic Theory) presented a new major – International Business, emphasizing its potential and singularity.
Full Professor G. Dovhal touched upon the advantages of the Hotel and Catering Business major, which, according to her, is exceptionally relevant in the circumstances of such rapid development of tourism in Ukraine.
Valentyna Shamraieva, Associate Professor at the Department of International Economic Relations, spoke about International Information major that is very important and necessary considering the ongoing economic globalization.
Olena Dovhal, Full Professor at the Department of International Economic Relations, told prospective students about the possibility of postgraduate training, due to the Thesis Committee operating at the School, which is a huge advantage and an important factor for those willing to continue their education.
Peculiarities of the academic process at the School were relayed to the future students by A. Perepelytsia (lecturer at the Department of Travel Business), L. Malakhova (senior department assistant) and I. Anderson (senior department assistant at the Department of International Economic Relations). During the conversation that was held in a a dialog format they answered prospective students’ questions regarding the rules of admission, cost of tuition, material and technical ware of the School, dormitory placement, etc. Furthermore, everyone interested received souvenirs and booklets of the School.
